& go - no tip pre-heating necessary! You NEVER have to press on the tip to
solder! The Split-Tip(TM) combines unique material properties into two
electrically insulated electrodes that form part of an internal electrical
circuit. When the tips' two electrodes make simultaneous contact with an
electrically conductive material (such as a wire, conductor center pin, solder,
or other material), the circuit is completed and the electrodes generate a
nearly instantaneous heat at the tip. (PRODUCT NOTE: not ESD-safe and not
recommended for use on cell phone or other circuit boards. Never press down on
the tip, simply touch to solder.) Dual: High/Low heat. Average of 700 joints per
battery pack ( 5AA batteries not included). CHT3 Chisel Tip plus case included.

Surface Mount Technology (SMT) has
become a way of life for electronics. Virtually all new high tech products
utilize SMT design and components. Even our latest Ramsey kits include various
SMT components. There are two problems with SMT: First, the parts are
extremely small, at times the size of a pin head! Therefore, you need to have
the proper tools, not only to hold them and solder them, but to see them!
Check out our SMT tools on page 95. Secondly, unlike “through hole” parts,
SMT components are soldered directly on the surface of the PC board (hence the
name SMT!) This is an entirely new method of soldering, and it takes practice
